In Batam, Indonesia Bertling has been entrusted with a one-year logistics project involving the relocation and handling of surplus materials from a client’s yard in Batam to its dedicated storage facilities, further supporting outbound shipments to China.
The project covers a total volume of 2,477 units of mixed cargo. Among the items handled are various cargo types, including cable drums and individual units weighing up to 900kg. Some cargoes need air-conditioning and low humidity.

Bertling’s Batam and Singapore offices are working in close coordination to ensure the seamless execution of the project from start to finish.
The scope of work includes:
- Arranging suitable transportation from the client’s yard to Bertling’s warehouse in Batam
- Conducting physical inspections and verifying cargo against documentation prior to transport
- Coordinating closely with yard operators and customer's personnel on loading schedules and sequences
- Preparing appropriate material handling equipment at the warehouse
- Safely unloading and positioning cargo within secure storage areas
Despite several operational hurdles, like incomplete commercial documentation or lengthy yard procedures, the project team has demonstrated resilience and adaptability.
Through proactive communication and strong on-ground expertise, Bertling has effectively mitigated these challenges, ensuring continuity and efficiency throughout the project lifecycle.
A key success factor in this project has been Bertling’s in-depth familiarity with local yard procedures, including strict QHSES requirements. This knowledge has enabled the team to navigate complex operational processes while maintaining the highest safety standards.
