Purposes of the job:
- To lead Bertling’s sales and commercial activities in South Florida
- To support our commercial activities in the North America Region
- To contribute to the groups global commercial activities and to gather, share and report market intelligence
- To participate in our Global Key Account management program organizing sales visits to our global accounts
- Support our global Key Account managers in terms of reporting marking information relating to the activities of our global key accounts in North America in particular and the Americas Region in general
- To promote the capabilities of Bertling in Miami in particular and North America in general
- To ensure that the image and competencies of Bertling are communicated effectively to existing and target clients
- To prepare and maintain group marketing information and corporate presentations in line with our corporate communication standards
- To organize sales meetings with existing and target clients
- To report back to the company what has been discussed and agreed at the sales meetings
- To solicit opportunities to quote for freight forward and logistics services
- To pass on these quote opportunities to the relevant colleagues in Miami / North America / Global Network offices
- To follow up on quotes issued by the Miami office
- To ensure that we are aware of all forthcoming major industrial projects in the country and region relevant to our industry and key account focus
- To ensure that corporate standards are being followed and that Bertling’s interests are being protected
- To develop general and project freight forwarding opportunities
- Issue weekly sales planners
- Issue weekly batch sales reports
- Maintain our project information system, Project Tracking & Tracing
- Participate in management of key shipments
- Support team members during peak periods in different areas of operation when required
- Assist to ensure HSE requirements are met
- Assist and contribute compliance with customs and other shipping regulations
- Ensure compliance with respect to our code of conduct and Ethics
- Create and issue proposals for shipping services
- Motivate team members to ensure all proactively contribute towards the common goal to meet the projects overall objectives.
The successful applicant will be involved with:
- Liaise, discuss and action opportunities
- Contribute to the development the country sales strategy
- Have a hands on approach to obtaining and developing sales leads
- Be aware of any new developments in the market
- Be sure to report news on market developments, entrants, throughout the organization
- Liaise with key global offices on business development and sales initiative
- Meet KPI’s as agreed with management
- Ensure that group ethics and compliance standards are being followed throughout our in country operations
- Ensure that the offices are appropriately and effectively resourced to cope with work load demands
- Provide and report on the competitive environment in country
- Provide information and report on general market conditions
- Assist to identify business development and commercial opportunities
Interfaces with:
- Local office management
- Regional management
- Global Sales director
- Key clients
- Procurement community in energy sector of the local environment
The successful applicant will have/be:
- Track record of success in North America
- In depth knowledge and experience of project logistics, both within North America and internationally
- In depth knowledge of the oil and gas supply chain
- In depth knowledge of key industry companies
- Knowledge of market segmentation techniques
- Knowledge of international compliance regulations
- Working knowledge of transport by all available modes (road, sea, rail, air)
- Organizational Skills
- Relationship management and interpersonal skills
- Communication, influencing and negotiating skills
- Working knowledge and understanding of abnormal loads/heavy lifts
- Excellent Presentation skills
- Research and Report writing skills
- Pragmatic approach to (and) problem solving and decision-making skills
- PC literate with MS Outlook, Excel, Word, SharePoint operational skills
- Minimum 5 years management experience in Freight Management and Logistics in the mining industry, Oil & Gas, and cruise businesses
- Experience of operational Health, Safety and Quality Management in Shipping, Mining, Construction or Oil & Gas related industries
- Professional and positive approach
- Expert in building relationships and able to communicate at all levels
- Self-motivated
- Team player and able to work on own initiative
- Dynamic and creative
