Zero Emission Day

21st of September

The Zero Emission Day first started in Canada in 2008 to encourage people to minimize the use of electricity sourced from fossil fuels. Today the Zero Emission Day has evolved into a worldwide movement that aims at raising awareness around carbon emissions and their negative impact on the environment, as well as inspiring individuals and organizations to reduce the usage of fossil fuels.

To honor this day, here are some practical ways you can reduce your own fossil fuel usage:

  • Choose green electricity: Explore options for switching to renewable energy sources instead of fossil fuel–based electricity.
  • Save power: Be mindful of your energy consumption. Use power-saving settings,  and turn devices completely off when not in use.
  • Travel smarter: Reduce trips powered by fossil fuels. Whenever possible, choose cycling, walking, or public transport.
  • Cut down on plastic: Plastics are made from fossil fuels, so reducing your use helps lower demand.

Happy Zero Emission Day to you all and remember that every small action counts!
