Every September, Bertling joins the global movement to celebrate World Cleanup Day, which takes place on 20 September. As part of our September Sustainability KPI, we encourage our offices around the world to take action in their local communities by organising clean-up activities in and around their neighbourhoods.
World Cleanup Day is more than just picking up litter. It is a global movement that aims to raise awareness of waste and address the systems that contribute to its generation.
Throughout September, our global teams came together to improve their local surroundings and contribute to a cleaner planet. Our offices documented their activities through photos and short stories, showcasing the different ways our teams are making a difference.
From small local initiatives to larger team efforts, every action counts. We are proud of the commitment shown by our colleagues around the world and look forward to sharing some of their cleanup activities and experiences.
Bertling Aberdeen
Our colleagues in Aberdeen organised their own local cleanup as part of this month’s Sustainability KPI. The team borrowed cleanup equipment from the local council and headed out in small groups throughout the week to collect litter in the area surrounding our office.
Together, they filled several bags with rubbish and helped make the local area a little cleaner. Unfortunately, the final cleanup group was rained off, but that’s Scotland for you!

Bertling Chile
As part of World Cleanup Day 2026 and our September Sustainability KPI, the Bertling Logistics Chile team organised a coastal cleanup at Los Tebos Beach in Puchuncaví, Valparaíso, on 15 September.
A total of 14 colleagues came together to clean the coastline, collecting 45 kg of waste. Of this, 13 kg was sent for recycling, meaning almost 29% of the collected waste was recovered for reuse.
The cleanup was a great example of our team’s commitment to protecting our local environment and marine biodiversity. Working together across the rugged coastline, our colleagues showed great teamwork and dedication while making a tangible difference in the local community.

Bertling Hamburg
In Hamburg, our colleagues also organised a local cleanup and registered the initiative with the official World Cleanup Day Organization. The initiative may also be featured on their website.
The team cleaned up the streets around the Portuguese Quarter, collecting 25 kg of litter, before heading back for a well-deserved lunch together. It was a great opportunity to make a positive contribution to our local surroundings while spending time together as a team.

Bertling Kazakhstan
On 19 September 2026, the Bertling Kazakh Logistics team in Atyrau took part in World Cleanup Day 2026.
The local Akimat allocated an area along the Zhaiyk River embankment, near the Aliyev Bridge, for our cleanup activity. Working together, the team cleaned the area and collected litter. One of our colleagues was also joined by their children, who were happy to get involved and actively participate in the cleanup.
The activity was successfully completed with a well-deserved team lunch afterwards. Thank you to all our colleagues who took part and contributed to making a positive difference in our local community.

Bertling Sweden
Our colleagues in Sweden have already taken part in two cleanup events this year.
In May, the team collected 137 kg of litter in collaboration with CleanSea. You can read more about the initiative on LinkedIn: CleanUp Action CleanSea in Sweden.
For this month’s Sustainability KPI, the team swapped their usual morning routine for gloves and rubbish bags and headed out to clean up the area around our office. In just one hour, they collected 100 kg of litter, from small pieces of rubbish to a few rather unexpected larger finds. Afterwards, some well-deserved burgers were waiting back at the office.

Bertling Türkiye
As part of our September Sustainability KPI, the Bertling Türkiye team took part in a coastal cleanup organised by DenizTemiz Association / TURMEPA (Turkish Marine Environment Protection Association) on 19 September.
TURMEPA is a leading Turkish NGO dedicated to protecting the seas and coastlines through environmental education, awareness activities and cleanup initiatives.
By joining the local event, our team helped contribute to cleaner coastlines while supporting Bertling’s annual cleanup initiative.
