National Women’s Equality Day commemorates the historic milestone of women gaining the right to vote in the United States in 1920. It is a reminder of the progress made towards gender equality – and of the work that still remains.
The 2026 theme, “Leading the Change: Women Shaping a Sustainable Future,” highlights the important role women play in driving positive change and shaping a more sustainable world. It reminds us that progress towards equality must continue – and that diverse voices and perspectives are essential in building a better future for everyone.
