Bertling Logistics Australia recently coordinated an urgent air charter carrying 41 tonnes of critical oil and gas equipment from Milan, Italy, to Perth, Australia.
The shipment consisted of 26 pieces of valves and oil-well equipment, transported on a dedicated Boeing 747F via Baku, Azerbaijan. The heaviest piece weighed over 10 tonnes.
POL: Milan, Italy
POD: Perth, Australia
Industry: Airfreight, full charter
Volume: 26 pieces / approx. 41 tonnes
Bertling Team: Australia
Before departure, the airline raised concerns about securing the heaviest valves. The wooden transport crates were not considered suitable for restraining cargo weighing between 7 and 10 tonnes.
Working with the airline and cargo terminal, Bertling arranged modifications to provide access to the cargo's securing points, along with additional timber supports to meet the carrier's requirements.
This allowed the heavy pieces to be safely secured for the flight.
Keeping to a tight schedule
The shipment also involved late cargo changes, additional air waybills and complex heavy-lift handling.
Bertling coordinated the loading preparations in Milan, monitored the flight via Baku and arranged the necessary unloading equipment in Perth.
The charter remained on schedule, supporting a time-critical maintenance project in Australia.
