Which airlines have cancelled flights to Saudi Arabia amid Houthi attacks?
Due to the latest aggression against Airport Riyadh (RUH) in SA last week, several airlines cancelled operations into SA Airports while EASA updated the CZIB.
- Air France-KLM: The Franco-Dutch group has extended a previous suspension of services to and from Riyadh until the end of October.
- Air India: The Indian carrier has extended the suspension of flights to and from the Saudi capital until October 15.
- Cathay Pacific: The carrier postponed the resumption of its Hong Kong-Dubai and Hong Kong-Riyadh routes until January 31, 2027.
- Delta: The US airline said it would delay its planned flights from Atlanta to Riyadh until March 2027.
- Etihad (EY): The UAE carrier cancelled all flights between Abu Dhabi and Riyadh, as well as 10 flights to Dammam and Jeddah, until October 19.
- Gulf Air: The Bahraini flag carrier cancelled its flights to and from Riyadh from October 12 to 17.
- Lufthansa: Carriers owned by the German airline group have cancelled all flights to Riyadh until October 16.
- Qatar Airways (QR): The carrier has suspended flights to and from Riyadh and Dammam.
- Emirates (EK) informed their clients on a booking basis that operations into SA Airport were cancelled, an official statement is currently not available.
The situation remains highly volatile, flight availability and cargo acceptance can change rapidly, increasing the risk that freight will not be operated on in time or at all.
This, in turn, increases the risk of additional charges, such as storage costs, cancellation fees, higher airfreight charges for operating into alternate airports or cargo stranding in hubs among the gulf states.
